Visual Merchandising Analysis 8

Since visual merchandising display might be different from brands, regions, stores, for this analysis, I am going to compare the designs in the same brand to shorten the varieties.

Good VS. Bad Round #8

This is a good example of a window display of Zara. The display was simple but classic with a symmetrical background, a good combination of architecture and lighting, styled mannequins, and attractive and trendy garments to achieve color, proportion, size, and tension these design elements. For design principles, balance, rhythm, emphasis, and surprise were highlighted in the display by positioning mannequins in different directions but for a balanced background, emphasizing the bright clothes within products and pointing out the unexpected usage of colors. I like the design that they utilized black to frame the entire display, as well as the logo and the rose-gold lighting outside. The display didn’t use lots of decorations but creating a high fashion and trendy atmosphere.

This is also an example of a window display from Zara, but it needs some improvements. By searching display images of the brand online, I noticed that the designs from Zara incline to be more simple and black and white style, so I assumed that there probably is a design guideline to follow. However, as a fashion major student and a consumer, I think the display can be more appealing by keeping the background but using various and characteristic apparel or some accessories. The background was fine, but the products were too plain and usual. The women jacket, for example, can add a red ribbon bow in the neck to accentuate the style. By doing so, the whole image can be high scored. Cheer up!

This is the eighth visual merchandising analysis and hopes you guys enjoy it! Please leave a comment if you have further thought!
